For our first project, it seemed to be easier and shorter to develop a game for children (which needs less resources – no 3d or complex textures).
The AppStore brings us marketing opportunities with its 130 Millions of IOS devices (Android doesn’t seem mature yet).
Last reason: I have young children (2 and 5 years old) and they often play with my Iphone 3GS! And a lot of games are not for younger children (need to read).
And a game is much funny to develop than a standard app!
Some fears to deal with:
- Objective-C seems hard to learn (but in fact, it’s not so complicated because a lot of resources are available) and IOS SDK need a Mac…
- Developing on mobile device involve a lot of optimizations (low memory, performance)
- And will my app be rejected by Apple reviewers?
